At Quiet Mind we are honored to share Yoga as it was meant to be practiced, focusing on the depth of practice and meeting participants at every level.
We invite you to the unique opportunity to practice authentic classical Hatha Yoga.
We practice traditional classical yoga neither diluting nor flavoring - to preserve and pass on this treasure trove of knowledge in its original form. We are more than a body mind complex, yet to allow for an exploration into deeper aspects of life is not possible without a strong body and a stable mind. So we seek to employ various tools envisioned by the rishis to gain physical strength and mental fortitude. The yoga class will focus on asanas, pranayama, relaxation, and meditation. Overall, we look at yoga as a way of life, instead of as an hourly practice on the mat.

Reiki is a light-touch, energy-based healing practice. It promotes a sense of well-being, and helps promote relaxation. This can improve sleep, allowing your body to better heal itself. The word “Reiki’ is the combination of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki. “Rei” means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki means “vital life force energy”. “Ki” Is the life force energy that animates all living things. Together, Reiki means “Spiritually Guided life-force energy. Reiki works by moving Universal life force energy through a practitioner as a channel. A Reiki Practitioner always intends for the Reiki energy to be used for their client’s greatest good. Reiki can never do harm. Most clients experience a profound sense of well-being, peace and relaxation.
What to expect during Reiki:
The client will be on a massage table and will normally start, lying face up. It is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Depending on the client, they may stay in one position or may turn face-down on the table at some point during the treatment. The practitioner will place their hands lightly on or near your body in a series of hand positions including positions on the client’s head, shoulders, stomach and feet or other positions based on the client’s individual needs. During the session, some clients may choose to fall asleep, or meditate. Others stay awake and enjoy the sensations, tuning in to the movement of energy. The experience is personal and unique to each individual. Each position is held for a few minutes depending on how much time is needed for each area. Most people experience a deeply meditative state during the session and feel veryrelaxed. There is very little or no talking during the session.

On a mindful walk you become aware of your posture and any sensations in the body while maintaining a steady, comfortable rhythm, walking naturally and breathing normally.
We use the rhythm of the walk as our anchor, our focus — left foot, right foot, —breathing in & breathing out as the point of gentle focus.
By doing this, we are bringing the mind to a place of rest where it can fully engage in the environment and present moment.
Mindful walking develops calm, connectedness, and embodied awareness.Using the movement of walking can help cultivate mindfulness and a wakeful presence.
In Bodh Gaya, India, there is an old Bodhi tree that shades the very spot where the Buddha is believed to have sat in meditation on the night of his enlightenment. Close by is a raised walking path about 17 steps in length, where the Buddha mindfully paced up and down in walking meditation after becoming enlightened, experiencing the joy of a liberated heart.
In his teachings, the Buddha stressed the importance of developing mindfulness in all postures, including sitting, lying down, and walking.
Mindful walks in nature, also known as the practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness
